An average of 120 new start-ups were formed daily this March.

Just over 3,600 companies and businesses were registered in Ireland between the 1st and 30th March 2015 - a 3% increase on the same period in 2014.

1,342 of these start-ups were companies - a 7.5% increase on March 2014 - with 46% of these based in Dublin.

The professional services sector accounted for almost a quarter of all company start-ups last month while the agriculture sector saw an 84% increase in new entrants compared to March 2014 (81 v 44).

During the same period, 113 Irish companies were declared insolvent. 22 of these insolvencies affected the real estate sector (up from 8 in March last year).
